How Yaskawa Is Strengthening American Manufacturing
In the world of motion control, few names carry the legacy and innovation of Yaskawa. But what really stands out today isn’t just what they build, but where and how they build it. Yaskawa is doubling down on American manufacturing, investing in a new state-of-the-art campus in Franklin, Wisconsin—an investment driven by its focus on deepening its American roots. In this episode of Evolution in Controls, host Tim Wilson meets with Greg Weichman, Segment Marketing Manager at Yaskawa, to talk about its presence, products, and plans.
In an effort to better serve its North American customers, Yaskawa is planning to consolidate all its American locations into a single campus in Franklin, WI, including its HQ, production, and a new center for semiconductor and robotics manufacturing. This will be a long-term project to build on the existing Franklin location, which already boasts a massive 260k sq ft and ample space dedicated to value-added solutions, such as complete drive packages.
Greg explains the importance of such a large and capable hub of operations: maintaining the high standard of engineered solutions for which Yaskawa is known. This level of quality and performance is possible thanks to their dedicated production spaces with intelligent tracking and tracing, which ensures everything—from individual components to fully engineered systems—is properly accounted for.
Yaskawa’s expansion to support its North American customer base is expected to create over 700 new jobs in the market as teams work together to customize renowned Japanese technology to meet American requirements and standards.
