Rapid-Fulfillment Hydraulic Power Units from Bosch Rexroth
Hydraulic power units are some of the most versatile systems in automation, capable of meeting an incredibly broad range of power and energy requirements. But that versatility usually comes from custom design, and custom design takes time, a precious commodity in factory automation. What if a hydraulic power unit didn’t have to start from scratch every time? In this episode of Evolution in Controls, host Tim Wilson sits down with Jake Ripberger, Senior Industrial Sales Engineer at Bosch Rexroth, to explore GoPak, a rapid-fulfillment program that, paired with the GoDesigner configuration tool, is changing how power units are designed, built, and delivered.
The idea behind GoPak is simple: keep the right components on the shelf. By stocking everything from tanks to pumps to filters and assembling units in-house, Bosch Rexroth can deliver a complete hydraulic power unit in 3 to 6 weeks, a pace few manufacturers can match. Standard configurations cover a wide range of applications, with options for cooling, sensors, and even valve manifolds built right onto the unit.
Not every application fits the standard mold, but even modified GoPak units draw from stocked components, making them far more readily available than a completely custom build. The GoDesigner configurator speeds things up even further, giving distributors a simple way to build and quote a unit on the spot and providing the documentation engineers need to move straight into design.
As Bosch Rexroth continues its push toward electrification, GoPak is expected to follow, with servo motors and VFD control panels as potential additions to the program.
